The transport and installation of the pilot unit for the LIFE CO2toCH4 project took place on September 18 and 19 at the Agios Dimitrios PPC Power Plant in the Ptolemaida Mines. This project aims to convert CO2 into methane as part of carbon capture and utilization efforts. The installation process involved several scientific and technical personnel from ELGO and Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH). Key components installed included the electrolyzer, membrane system, and methanation unit.
Dr. Apostolos Antoniadis from PPC Renewables (PPCR), the project coordinator, supervised the work alongside consortium members including Helena Partheniou (PPCR), Professor Anastasios Zouboulis (AUTH), Froso Peleka (AUTH), Dr. Ioannis Kellartzis (AUTh), Dr. Konstantinos Kontogiannopoulos (ELGO), Aikaterini Xirostylidou (ELGO), Alexandros Chatzis (AUTH), Dr. Valia Koutsiantzi (AUTH), and Elissavet Lamprinidou (AUTH). The pilot unit was successfully put into trial operation, marking a key step in the project’s development.
